Autumn Leaf Wreath Workshop
Celebrating the Season Through Color, Texture, and Togetherness

Program Overview
This workshop invited senior residents at Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing to create their own autumn wreaths using foam leaves, pumpkins, sunflowers, acorns, pom-poms, and pipe cleaners.
Inspired by the colors of the fall season, the activity gave participants a relaxing, hands-on way to celebrate the time of year. With simple materials and guided support, every resident could work at their own pace and leave with a finished wreath to display in their room.

Choosing the Colors of Fall
Each table was filled with bright autumn pieces, and residents were free to arrange them however they liked. Some carefully placed leaves in neat patterns, while others layered pumpkins, sunflowers, and pom-poms for a fuller look.
There was no single “right” design. Participants talked about their favorite fall colors, compared choices with their neighbors, and slowly built wreaths that reflected their own taste.

Hands Together
For residents who needed help with smaller tasks, such as peeling tape or attaching pipe cleaners, volunteers and center staff worked side by side with them. Some residents also helped one another, holding pieces in place for a friend.
This shared support allowed everyone to finish their project, and turned the workshop into a moment of teamwork and care.

A Season to Share
By the end of the session, the room was full of colorful wreaths. Residents proudly held up their work for photos, and many smiled as they showed their creations to staff and friends.
The finished wreaths brought a touch of autumn into residents’ rooms, and a reminder of the joy of making something beautiful together.
